We have so many gift ideas here at New Mother New Baby. We decided to ask our staff to make some recommendations for favorite gift ideas for the holiday! Here are some of our favorite things!
Gail’s Picks!
1.Dream Blanket from Aden and Anais:
I love this blanket! It is 4 layers thick and has many uses. It is a nice size and eventually becomes a great toddler blanket. It comes in bamboo and muslin and will fast become one of your little one’s favorite things! I love great and practical gifts and this fits the bill for both! It is something that grows with your child and will be used for years to come.
2.Lactation Consultation or Class:
I am one of the lactation consultants so of course, I love this idea for any expectant or new mom. I am often amazed and happy when I have someone come in for a consult and it changes the whole course of her lactation experience. Classes foster friendship, self-esteem, and are a wonderful gift often keeps giving for years to come. You can purchase a gift certificate in person or online for consult or a class. Moms LOVE getting this for a gift.

Rhonda’s Picks!
1. Simple Wishes Nursing Band/Bra
I love the Simple Wishes hand free pumping band/bra. Moms often laugh when they look at the picture on the box…but it doesn’t take them long to figure out that as a mom of a new baby they need to multi task. This band/bra affords a new mom the freedom to use their hands to eat, work or tend to another child. And who couldn’t use an extra set of hands?!
2. Nursing Tops
I am really excited about our selection of Nursing Tops. Whether pumping or breastfeeding, our moms are thrilled to be able to look stylish and still have easy access without getting undressed! We offer a large selection of styles and colors, and our brands are among the best available. We offer sizes from extra small to extra large. You can’t go wrong by giving a tank top from Boob or a tunic top from Milkstars.

Lisa’s Picks:
1. Tiny Love Mobile
I love this mobile because it has multiples uses and grows with your kid! It has a unique line of options for 0-3 months Play the unique “white sounds” option to your newborn baby. Research has found that these sounds relax newborns as they remind them of sounds they had heard in the womb. For 5+ months once the time for mobiles is over, remove the arm and leave the music box only. Soon enough your baby will learn how to activate the music box by himself. Around 12 months when your little one starts walking, he will enjoy carrying the music box around with him and listen! There is also a take along version!
2. Cloud B Twilight Turtle
We adore this turtle light! The Twilight Turtle is a plush toy that transforms any room into a starry night sky to help comfort children to sleep or when they wake up. The Twilight Turtle projects a magical constellation of stars onto the bedroom ceiling and walls in three soothing color options. The shell illuminates to help ease childrens fear of the dark, and is also an interactive and educational toy which includes 8 actual constellations (such as the Big Dipper) embedded into the star pattern. (a guide is included!) For ages 3 and up, though this has been in my sons bedroom for us to use since he was born. Now that he is 3, he keeps it with him at night. We sing twinkle twinkle all the time, point out the moon, and he uses it to light up his bed to read and sing. Every morning when I go to get him out of bed, it is on, it is a must have for any kid!

Susan’s Pick’s:
Melissa and Doug’s Responsibility Chart
I just started using the Melissa & Doug Magnetic Responsibility Chart with my 3 year old son Evan, and I have already noticed a positive difference in his behavior. Right now we are focused on very basic activities such as brushing his teeth, getting dressed, sharing and apologizing; but I am looking forward to adding more options as he gets a little older. Some day he will actually be old enough to empty the dishwasher and take out the trash, and when that day comes I’ll be ready with the rewards! We have a house rule that once he gets to 5 reward smiles on any given day he can have either a small piece of chocolate or a chocolate milk. (Can you tell he has a fondness for chocolate? Wonder where he gets that from…
I had a hard time narrowing down another favorite because there are so many things here I love! If you have read the blog from June you already know how much I love the Beco baby carrier, and I now have a Boba 3G that I wear with my older son; but I wanted to try to share something a little less obvious. I started thinking about the things around my house that I use every single day, like the reward chart and the carriers, and I’ve narrowed it down to 2 more items that make great gifts and will get tons of use from little ones in your life.
First, the Zoli bot straw sippy cup. I have a tendency to like most of the Zoli products, from the Buzz B nail file to the Gummy Stick teethers, and the straw cup is no exception. It is just the right size for my 1 year old son Nathan to hold, and he was able to start drinking out of it months ago. He actually has never used a traditional sippy cup! The straw is very soft and flexible, and there is even a little weight at the base of the straw so that if he does tip it to the side he can still successfully drink. We have one in every color, and I even keep one at Grandma’s house!
And last, the Skip Hop Playspot foam floor tiles. I use the colorful Zoo pattern in my music class on Saturday mornings, and I have the more neutral green and brown pattern for my home. Having all hard wood floors in my house I knew we needed to find something for the kids to play on that was soft and safe. I researched several different options and the Skip Hop tiles were the only floor covering I found that was safety rated for babies (not just toddlers) and also BPA and Phthalte-free. Considering how often I have seen the pieces end up in little mouths, I think that is very important! Also, they are incredibly easy to clean. Just a quick spray with Dapple and wipe down with paper towels.
